I will admit that traveling during the Summer months is hard for me. I hate the heat, I hate to sweat and be dirty, and as weird as that sounds it is the truth. We traveled for a special friend’s 21st birthday spent in Walt Disney World and that, of course, was much more important to me than any amount of discomfort. Still, I needed some extra support in dealing with the heat and this list contains all of my favorite things that helped me during this trip. In this list, I also included other travel items that I use on a regular basis and wouldn’t travel without. They really helped us in some way or just made the trip easier and I hope they will help you too.
First is our awesome device charger. We use these at home and at softball games, the beach, etc all the time but they are lifesavers. They charge both Apple devices and android devices and they require no additional plug as the plugs are built in. I can completely charge 2 phones from 0-100 without needing to recharge the device. I love them.
As always, I wouldn’t go anywhere without my packing cubes. They make packing so much easier and our suitcases hold so much more using these.
The heat in Summer at Disney is brutal! One of the softball moms recommended these hydration backpacks and this was our first time using them. They were lifesavers! It was so easy to stay hydrated and all I had to do was tell the kids to take a drink and it was as easy as possible to keep them hydrated all day.
One item that wasn’t related to the heat, but something important to me was the safety of the girls. Sometimes kids get separated from their parents at the parks. Although I watch them at all times, I still worry. I bought these key tags and put my phone number and my husband’s phone number on them just in case a cast member needed to contact us to let us know they found our treasure. On the back, I also included their parents’ phone numbers in case something actually happened that would require someone to reach them. I attached a matching tag to each of their backpacks.
Because of the heat, I wore moisture wicking shorts and these racerback workout tops. I bought them in a number of different colors and I really liked them. Thankfully, I wasn’t soaking wet all day like with a tshirt,
I also used these racerback sports bras underneath the tops, in color-coordinating colors of course.
One of the fairy godmother gifts I purchased for the girst this year was this mini portable pocket fan. I got them in the pink and the turquoise. They were mighty little compact fans. They put off a great breeze and you can fit them in a pocket.
These portable neck fans have proven to be invaluable over and over again. When you need to stay cool you will use any and all means necessary and you can just put this around your neck and go. It has 3 speeds so you can use it how you need. In Florida, it was always on the 3rd setting.
I always carry Downy Wrinkle Releaser no matter where we go. I spray it on, shake the fabric and let it hang out for a bit. It works great!
Southwest allows guests 2 free bags but each cannot be over 50 lbs without a charge so I always bring my luggage scale with me to double-check the weight.
I hope these tips will help you when traveling, especially during the Summer. Please let me know what gems you have found that may help others as well.*
