My mother has always told me there’s something extraordinary between me and Disney. She is right. My first visit changed me forever. Although my whole family visited together, it was me to whom that Disney magic attached via mind, heart and soul. There, I had finally found where I belonged.
I can’t quite put my finger on this love affair except to say that there’s a supernatural force at work here. If you’re reading my newsletter, chances are good that you know what I am talking about. You LOVE Disney! It seems like such a simple thing, doesn’t it?
We work just to be able to vacation with our families in the most magical place on Earth. But something happened to us this year. We haven’t been able to get to our Happy Place. And it’s there where we feel the most alive. It is there where we feel truly aligned with our truest selves. That is why it is so important that we keep the Disney magic alive at home!
There are many ways to accomplish this. Today, I’m sharing with you the Top 10 ways in which I keep the magic alive at home. I’m also sharing some links to get you started. So, here we go with my Top 10 ways to keep Disney alive at home:
1) Watch Disney movies — animated or live-action.
I can bet that there are Disney movies you haven’t seen, and maybe some you didn’t even know are Disney movies. Here is a link of Disney movies to peruse. See what might interest you.
2) Listen to Disney music.
Did you know you can listen to Disney music 24/7? You can listen via Alexa or online.
3) Create your Disney Bucket List.
Do you have a Disney Bucket List of places you would like to visit or activities you would like to include in your next trip? It’s fun to plan and actually make a list. You can even go one step further and make a Disney Bucket List like one of these.
4) Cook or bake Disney treats.
Disney has released a lot of their recipes since the COVID-19 stay-at-home order. If you have missed them, check out this site. Here is a great recipe for Mickey Strawberry Shortcake. Here’s another great recipe that was one of Walt’s favorites:
WALT’S FAVORITE CHOCOLATE SODA
1/3 cup chocolate syrup
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
6 oz soda or seltzer water
Maraschino cherry
Pour chocolate syrup in the bottom of an 8oz milk shake glass.
1.Smoosh in 1 scoop of ice cream.
2.Slowly pour in soda water almost to top of glass.
3.Perch another scoop of ice cream on top.
4.Add a cherry and a colorful straw or two!
5) Make fun cut-outs with your food.
This is especially good for kids’ lunch foods as it adds a little happiness to their lunch. Also, encouraging notes with a Mickey theme are cute for a lunch idea too!
6) Enjoy the smell of Disney.
There are scents available from the Magic Candle Company. They have more Disney-related scents than you can imagine. I have the Poly, Beach Club, Christmas, Bakery and many more scents. They take me right back there – thank goodness, especially right now!You can check out their awesome scents and save 10% by using this link.
7) Use your Disney-themed dishes, cups, paper plates, refillable mugs from your previous trips.
You don’t need a special occasion to use all of your favorite Disney items.
8) Make Disney crafts.
I am very soon going to be making this wreath because I am already getting into the spirit of preparing for Thanksgiving. Even something as simple as Disney coloring sheets put a smile on little faces.
9) Wear Disney clothing.
I wear Disney clothing every day. It is my staple wardrobe. But, when I am down I put on my ears, y’all.
10) Plan your next Disney trip.
You don’t even have to actually plan it but be planning it. Research things you want to do, places you might be interested in staying, you can even research some ideas to list for Fairy Godmother gifts to surprise the kids during your next trip. Dream a little!!! Having something to which to look forward actually makes us happier.
That’s it for my Top 10. If you have any others you do at home, please reply and share with me. I would love to hear more options.
