Walt Disney said, “Happiness is a state of mind, it’s just according to the way you look at things.” He also said, “We create happiness.” To Disney fans, happiness is manifested in different ways for different people. I want to share some of those with you today, in honor of my mom – the special person who made Disney a part of my life many years ago.
Happiness is in the memories shared with family and loved ones that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
It’s in the feeling we get in the pit of our stomachs when we walk down Main Street USA. The first glimpse of the castle is the best.
It is found under the magical arch; the one you drive under where Mickey greets you with open arms. You know it.. and hopefully you will be seeing it again soon.
For some, happiness is grabbing the perfect seat from which to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
It’s the look in a child’s eyes and how his face lights up when he sees his favorite character for the first time.
It is also found in the smile of a little girl when her daddy first sees her in her Princess dress.
It’s in watching our children when we all become children again ourselves!
It’s in turning off the outside world and tuning in to our time together.
It’s in the joy of the ride!
It’s the sights and sounds of a Disney cavalcade or parade.
It’s in a special treat, like enjoying an ice cream cone on Main Street USA.
It’s on the face of a little girl when she meets her favorite princess.
It’s in a hug from Mickey Mouse!!
It’s in our relationships with our families. It is in all the memories we make together, the laughter we share, the excitement when we arrive and the sadness when we must head home.
It’s in our wish of a better world.
It’s in the joy of knowing Disney friends from all over the country. People we might never have met except for our love of Disney. It’s a special Disney bond, and even though I have never met many of them in person, they are part of my Disney family.
Walt gave us the tools; we just have to use them to find our heart’s desire. I am betting it’s somewhere inside our Happy Place.
