With increasing news reports about the Delta Variant, I have begun receiving many inquiries as to whether or not Disney will bring back the requirement of face coverings. It may be surprising for some to know that Disney has never done away with the requirement for face masks. They have just changed the policy in accordance with CDC Guidelines and divided the requirement among vaccinated vs unvaccinated guests. I have copied and pasted the current requirements below.
I will post here on the blog if anything changes with these policies. Please know that I don’t report any policy changes unless it comes directly from Disney. Rumors are just that until an official statement is made so please always feel free to ask me anything. I will always do my very best to help my guests with any and all concerns or needs for their vacations.
Face Coverings
While face coverings are required for all Guests while in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, they are now optional in most areas for Guests who are fully vaccinated. While we do not require proof of vaccination, we expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations and upon entering and throughout all attractions and transportation except ferry boats. All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) should:
- Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
- Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
- Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
- Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
Face coverings should not contain valves, mesh material or holes.Costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings should:
- Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
- Meet all face covering requirements listed above

Please know that Disney also maintains the below statement regarding the ever-fluid situation we have come to expect in regards to Covid-19:
“Within our communities, we’re encouraged that COVID-19 guidelines have been adjusted and eased by public health and government officials, paving the path for many businesses and industries to take positive steps forward.
As we have done since reopening, we’ve been very intentional and gradual in our approach to our COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Based on recent trends and guidance, Walt Disney World Resort will be making more adjustments to these measures, including physical distancing and face coverings. These measures may change at any time without notice.
We encourage people to get vaccinated.”
